A mixed bag of results his weekend. Ballincollig had only a few entries in the first Irish rankin event of the year. Colm Murphy, Niall Brown and Nora O’ Sullivan were the only representatives as the club looks to rebuild its base.
Tibhar sponsored Colm played the u 17 event on Saturday. He won 7 of the 8 matches he played on the day dropping only 5 sets. Unfortunately Colm was beaten in 5 set nail biter by Geoffery O’Connor from UCD. It meant that Colm had to settle for the 9-17 playoff but he rallied and won his next 4 matches comfortably to 9th place overall.
Niall and Nora played the U14 boys and girls events on Sunday. This was a big step up for Nora and she had a tough draw. Nora qualified for the plate and eventually lost out in the qtr finals.
Niall found himself matched up with two of his Munser buddies in the first round. Although he played well he didn’t make it out of the group and ended up losing in the semi final of the plate event.
The next Irish ranking event will be the Ulster Open in October.
